Light ‘em up: Committee raises funds

for stadium lights

By Patricia Gay on April 3, 2014 in Latest NewsSchools & Youth

The project will generate many benefits including:
  • Youth & High School Athletes – will significantly increase practice availability for spring and fall sports, generate excitement of playing under the lights and make our athletic programs more competitive
  • Students –  a safe place to gather for “Friday Night Games”
  • Fans – parents and empty nesters will have a place to meet Weston friends to cheer on our teams
  • Schools – Weston will join virtually all its peer schools that have stadium lights
  • Special Events – a venue for special events such as Relay for Life and Special Olympics
  • Residents will have a lit off-road track to exercise when we experience reduced daylight hours

Specific for TROJAN FOOTBALL & CHEER:

♦ Friday Night Lights!-- just like the rest of the schools in SWC & DRG-A!  The Town Spirit, the Player/Cheer experience, and the Atmosphere-- will be OURS!

♦ Crowds bring increased admission and concession revenues!  Can also host and profit from post-season playoff games!

♦ No more practicing in the dark in Oct and Nov before soccer ends and we can squeeze in down on the lower turf field!

♦ For YOUTH FOOTBALL & CHEER-- opportunity for a night game or two, increased availability for weekend home games during the day, practices on well lit all-weather lined turf field instead of Middle School grass field.
